Relaxing waterfall
Semana Santa (Easter week) is time for faith and devotion. It’s also an opportunity to get away from the City to relax with family and friends. The beaches get very crowded (It’s our summer time) so I decided to try something else heading to the north of Guatemala. The department of Alta Verapaz has a lot of eco-turistic hideouts to enjoy nature with great rivers, caves, mountains and valleys.
There you’ll find the great Semuc Champey, where the Cahabon river goes inside the earth and the nature creates natural pools and cascades. You also have the caves of Rey Marcos where you get inside the mountain discovering all sorts of shapes and figures created by water and hundreds of years.
The picture is from Sachichaj waterfall in the road to Chisec. The river falls down in this natural pool where the cold and crystal water will relax every muscle of your body.
I’ll need more time for my next trip to Alta Verapaz. There’s still a lot so discover.
