We meet yesterday night for the FOWA Road Trip Barcelona in Kynoto. A great meeting with great entrepreneurs from the city and also the visit of Ryan Carson. He got cards from everybody, so we’ll wait for a post with the list of the attendants in the FOWA Road Trip blog.

Ryan asked a lot of questions about our knowledge of the event and also the web application’s scene in the Spanish market. We talk about companies and entrepreneurs from Barcelona, Spain and I added a few thoughts about Latinamerica. The Idea of the meeting was to meet for networking and also to discuss about the ways to help developers to keep innovating with new products for the global market as well as the local one. Ryan was a tutor in the recent Seedcamp and has a lot of experience with their own companies.

At the end of the meeting, Ryan gave away a free pass to the FOWA event in London and Sergio Gago was the lucky guy.

After the meeting, we got some Tapas in the Born neighborhood. It was the first night of La Mercè, reason for all the fireworks and a crowded downtown, so even a great time to show around. I have to thank Ryan and the FOWA team for sponsoring the beers of the meeting.

I’ll attend FOWA in October, so together with Sergio, Francesc Esplugas and another guy (sorry that didn’t got the name), there are four guys from Barcelona heading that way. ¿Anybody else comming?

El sábado leía en el blog de Julio Alonso sobre una cena para bloggers que tendría de invitado a Jason Calacanis, fundador de Weblogs Inc. Sin duda no había excusa para perdérsela aprovechando que la convocatoría estaba abierta para todos los que pudieran ir.

Arrancó pasadas las 9pm en La Masia a recomendación de Carlos Blanco. Muy buena concurrencia y deliciosa cena. Hubieron varios conocidos (varios de fuera de Barcelona incluso) y la oportunidad de ponerle rostro a muchas personas que alguna vez había leído o contactado.

De Jason Calacanis, decir que es un chico inspirador, muy agradable y dispuesto a compartir su experiencia. Me comentó un poco de los incentivos que manejo en Weblogs Inc. con su equipo de editores, así como de anécdotas curiosas de Engadget cuando iba a eventos a cubrirlos.

Tuve la oportunidad también de sentarme muy cerca de Jeff Barr y su esposa Carmen originaria de Perú. Jeff es el evangelista de los Web Services de Amazon con quien discutimos del S3 y de los proyectos que tienen en camino. Soy usuario de este servicio para hacer mis backups ya que los costos de almacenamiento son muy agradables.. Y claro, también le pregunté si habrían novedades sobre Alexa, aunque quedó pendiente de enviarme información.

Ambos personajes están aquí por el IGC que arrancó hoy. No he podido asistir aún, pero hoy martes lo hago sin falta para ver que más aprendemos de Calacanis. Y por la noche hay First Tuesday con la participación de Didac Lee, así que hay que aprovechar a continuar con el buen networking que hay por esta ciudad.
